This Is Where You Should Relocate After The Northern California Fires

If you are reading this, then you have likely been affected by the fires either directly or indirectly.  The recent wildfires wreaked havoc across Northern California, affecting Sonoma, Napa Valley and many other surrounding counties.  These fires ravaged homes, wineries, and schools, as well as people’s livelihoods.  If you have been affected in any way, thoughts and prayers go out to you.

If the fires have taken your home, place of employment, or anything near to you, what do you do next?  Do you rebuild your home and stay put or relocate?  Glad you asked reader! Maybe you lost your house, or maybe the fires hit a little too close to home.  If that is the case and you’re open to relocate, then continue reading.  There are many surrounding areas that offer similar opportunities and perks as the Sonoma and Napa counties.  Relocation is a viable option.

Nearby cities to consider are the Sacramento area, Lodi, Plymouth and Folsom; as well Amador and Placer counties.  These areas are comparable to those in Sonoma and Napa counties and with the opportunity for growth.

Napa Valley is world renowned for its wineries.  Many people who live in this county are a part of the wine industry in some way.  For some, this is their profession and trade. In the fires, 22 wineries were affected in the Napa Valley area.  So, if you were a part of this niche, you could be contemplating a move.  Luckily there are nearby cities as mentioned above with wineries that are just as great, but lesser known.  One area in particular is Placer county, where there are over 32 wineries and craft breweries!  You could be a part of the “next” Napa Valley.

Some other perks of these areas are the close proximity of Folsom and Tahoe lakes that are perfect for family vacations and enjoying the beautiful side of nature.  Along with the lakes, there are endless outdoor activities like hiking, biking, fishing and then skiing and other winter activities.  Plus, with limited cell service when visiting these places, your kids might have to put their phones down and actually talk to you!  I know crazy…but no promises.

Speaking of kids, these counties are known for their impressive school districts. Rocklin, and Roseville are 1st and 3rd respectively in the Sacramento area.  Also, impressively they are 1st and 2nd ranked in safety according to Niche.com.

With brand names, comes brand name prices, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you are getting what you are paying for.  Silicon Valley has boomed into the tech startup capital of the world and with it the housing market has boomed as well! The average home price in Santa Clara county has skyrocketed to 1.2 million dollars according to Forbes. That’s a lot of money!

Like with the wineries, wouldn’t you want to get ahead of the curve and move into a place that will be the next big thing before it is?  Ok so where might this magical place be? Well this place that is expected to boom in the next few years is you guessed it, Sacramento! According to the Sacramento Association of Realtors, new construction hasn’t kept up with demand.  Average home prices were around $317,000 in April 2017 and increasing from $295,000 in April 2016. WOW! Sacramento is moving towards the next big tech capital, so you need to get in while it’s still affordable.

So, to wrap it all up; the Sacramento and its surrounding areas have so much to offer: wineries, lakes, outdoor activities, impressive school districts, the cost of living is low and it’s looking like it will be the next tech capital!  What more could you want?? If this doesn’t scream opportunity then I don’t know what will!
